The Northumberland Gazette has reported, that the council was 'starting to get on top of repairs to the main road network' after an extreme winter caused potholes and damaged roads.
Richard Hayes, Northumberland County Council's north area highways manager said: "On the strategic network we have now just about completed patching. We are now starting with more significant works to try to overlay patched areas to make reasonable running surfaces."
The meeting also heard that the council is to start a review on how the winter episode was handled and any lessons that can be learnt from it. He said delays to road repairs have occurred because of claims made to the council for damage to vehicles caused by the poor road conditions.
